The Product Type-Specific Custom Asset Attributes feature allows administrators to configure which custom asset attributes are displayed based on an asset's product type. This creates more targeted and relevant asset forms by showing only the attributes that matter for specific types of products.

Administrators: Configuring Product Type-Specific Attributes

  1. Setting Up Product Type Associations
  2. Navigate to Administration -> Configuration -> Custom Attributes
  3. Select an existing custom attribute or create a new one for the Asset Attribute scope
  4. In the attribute configuration, locate the new Product Types section
  5. You can now select specific product types where this attribute should appear
  6. Use the multi-select functionality to choose one or more product types
  7. Save your changes

Users: Viewing Product Type-Specific Attributes

When working with assets, you'll notice:

  • Custom attributes will only appear on asset forms if they match the asset's product type
  • If you change an asset's product type, the visible attributes will automatically update
  • Required fields are still mandatory, but only if they're configured for the current product type
